Over the past few years, we have seen an increase in the number of people using bicycles and personal mobility devices (PMDs), such as e-scooters, for short trips or leisure rides.

These may include students who do so after school hours or during the weekends with friends and families. When used safely, such active mobility modes are beneficial.

During this pandemic, for instance, cycling has become a popular mode for short trips.

LTA has been putting in measures to govern the use of active mobility devices since 2018, through the Active Mobility Act. From 1 August 2020, stricter rules are put in place to enhance safety on public paths.
